Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect what the tutoring needs and nothing more. Your conversations power your lessons, not advertising. Microphone audio is transcribed on your device and never uploaded. There are no ads, no data sales, no tracking across other apps — and you can permanently delete everything from inside the app at any time.
1. Who we are
LangLab is a language-learning app in which you practise by having conversations with Lina, an AI tutor. The app and this website are operated by the LangLab team. For anything in this policy, contact us at hello@getlanglab.com.
2. What we collect
- Account and learning profile. Your first name, the language you speak, the language you are learning, your level, your learning goal and your reminder time. Your email address — only when you choose to add it to save your progress or sign in.
- Conversations. The messages you exchange with Lina. If you speak instead of type, your speech is converted to text on your device; the audio itself never leaves your phone — only the resulting text is sent.
- Learning progress. The words you collect, lessons you complete, quiz answers, streaks and how many practice minutes you use each day.
- Technical data. A randomly generated device identifier (not a hardware identifier), your platform, error logs, and basic feature-usage events that never include the content of your messages.
3. How we use it
- To run the conversation: generate Lina's replies, translations, hints, quizzes and voice.
- To personalise your learning: your level, your collected words and your progress shape what Lina teaches next.
- To operate the service: metering the free daily minutes, keeping your streak, sending the daily reminder you asked for, and fixing crashes.
We do not show ads, we do not sell personal data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
4. Third-party providers
LangLab is built on carefully chosen third-party providers, which process data on our behalf to deliver specific features:
- AI conversation providers. Your messages and the relevant parts of your learning profile are processed by third-party AI providers to generate Lina's replies.
- Voice providers. The text of Lina's replies is processed by third-party voice providers to produce the audio you hear.
- Cloud infrastructure. Your account and learning data are stored with third-party cloud infrastructure providers.
In every case we share only what the specific feature needs, and we do not permit these providers to use your content for advertising. Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country.
5. Your microphone
Microphone access is optional — you can use LangLab entirely by typing. When you do use your voice, speech recognition runs on your device. Recordings are not uploaded, not stored and not shared. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings.
6. Retention and deletion
- We keep your data while your account is active.
- Delete my data in the app's Settings permanently deletes your account, conversations, words and progress from our systems, immediately. This action cannot be undone.
- Accounts inactive for 18 months are deleted automatically.
7. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile in the app, delete your account as described above, and control microphone and notification permissions in your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over your data (such as access, correction, deletion or portability) — write to us at hello@getlanglab.com and we will honour them.
8. Children
LangLab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to stored data is restricted per account. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that your data is only ever used to teach you.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it here and revise the date at the top. For material changes we will also tell you in the app before they take effect.
